Buffalo Mountain Park and Winged Deer Park

  • 3.29 miles/1.45 miles
  • 2:28 duration/1:22 duration
  • 738 ft elevation gain/95 ft elevation gain
  • 1 cache found/4 caches found
  • 6 caches visited (owned or previously found at BMP)

We started out the day by returning to Buffalo Mountain Park so that LakeBum could log caches on the other side of the park. We parked at the picnic area and immediately began the steep climb up to Huckleberry Knob. From there, we followed the White Rock Loop trail around the mountain for 1.7 miles, and then took the Fork Knob Trail across the mountain to Lady Slipper Loop and back down. I checked on a couple of my caches hidden in this section of the park, and was able to log one new cache for me, a puzzle that LakeBum had recently solved.

Since this was a relatively short hike, we decided to stop by Winged Deer Park on the way home so that LakeBum could show me the trail along the old railroad bed. This was a short hike as well, with very little elevation gain, and I enjoyed learning from LakeBum some of the history of the area and finding four caches.
